Wheelabrator Parc Adfer Project, North Wales

Wheelabrator Parc Adfer is an £800 million energy from waste facility located in Deeside and serves the North Wales Residual Waste Treatment Partnership. The facility produces enough sustainable energy to power the equivalent of 30,000 homes. Waste specialist company, CNIM, constructed the facility.

Coast provided specialist communications consultancy during the construction and commissioning phases. Cohesive communications and industrial relations strategies were devised and implemented to manage industrial relations issues. Crisis communications support helped to minimise the impact of protest events and daily monitoring provided intelligence, allowing the project team to respond quickly to any potential unrest. We also ran bespoke job fairs and ‘meet the buyer’ events, and a specialist suite of tools and materials provided the project with a clear position to address any adverse claims.

Working with Cobalt Energy, Coast was able to mitigate and minimise the impact of industrial action – construction of the facility was finished on time and on budget.
