Exeter Energy Recovery Facility, Devon
The Exeter Energy Recovery Facility, located in Devon, is a £45m energy from waste facility producing 24GWh of energy from 60,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste. The process produces enough electricity to power the equivalent of 6,624 homes.
Coast was commissioned by Devon County Council to manage communications for the planning, construction and operational phases of the facility. This was the fastest planning permission ever achieved for an EfW. Our activities encompassed strategic communications, community consultation, stakeholder engagement, media relations, schools liaison and the inauguration ceremony.
Coast’s experience in navigating the planning process saw permission for the plant secured in record time; less than nine months from the outset.
