Retirement Community at Sladnor Park

Public exhibition of proposed 180 unit retirement community.

9th October, 2017
We would like to invite you to a briefing and public exhibition to view proposals for a 180 unit retirement community at Sladnor Park, Maidencombe.

The event will be held on Wednesday 11th October (10am–7pm) and Thursday 12th October (10am–2pm) at Brunel Manor, Teignmouth Road, Torquay, TQ1 4SF.

The proposed development, which will serve Torquay and the surrounding area, will offer a range of flexible accommodation and care options for older people depending on whether they need higher or lower levels of support.  Much of the accommodation is set in pavilion buildings that have been assessed within the contours of the landscape so that most do not impede the clear views looking into the site from the coastal path.

Facilities like this are urgently needed in the area as Torbay’s over 70 population is expected to increase by 28.1%, from 24,000 to 30,700, by 2025.  The proposed development will generate over 100 new jobs for local people, as well as construction jobs, and it will support local businesses during both the construction phase and supply chain once the centre is open. Local residents will also be able to use many of the retirement community’s facilities including the café and bar.

A second public consultation event will be held later in the autumn once feedback has been gathered.
