Wilton Energy from Waste Facility, Teesside

The Wilton Energy from Waste Facility has the capacity to generate enough energy to power the equivalent of 63,000 homes. Using 440,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste as fuel, the £250 million plant saves almost 130,000 tonnes of carbon each year compared to fossil fuel production methods.

With growing unrest around international workers and pay, which saw weekly flash protests, Coast was brought in as communications consultant to help anticipate and manage the impact. Our work included coordinating a jobs fair, bringing together the local council and college, DWP, careers advisers and union representatives to ensure that multiple sources of support were available to job seekers.

Coast’s specialist communications expertise improved industrial relations and mitigated disruption, ensuring the project was completed on time and on budget.
