South West Devon Waste Partnership and Devonport Energy from Waste Combined Heat and Power Facility

The South West Devon Waste Partnership (SWDWP) – a collaboration between Plymouth City Council, Devon County Council and Torbay Council – commissioned the Devonport Energy from Waste Combined Heat and Power plant to provide a reliable and proven solution to divert residual waste from landfill.

On the back of our work with the Exeter Recovery Facility, Coast was contracted by the SWDWP to work on the Devonport project from site selection to construction and operations. We provided full communications support, including strategy development, media relations and stakeholder engagement. As well as extensive consultation activity, we facilitated political briefings, tours and other events to support the project.

Coast’s community engagement work saw in excess of 45 local exhibitions, which was critical to the success of the project.
