SWH Group announce Apprentice of the Year

5th September, 2017
SWH Group Ltd has announced its 2017 Apprentice of the Year.

Jack Bingham from Plymouth was confirmed as the award winner at a special presentation on September 5 2017 after spending the last two years on the company’s coveted scheme.

The accolade is awarded by SWH Group’s leadership team, who chose Jack on his high levels of commitment to the apprenticeship and the company.

Jack, 24 joined SWH Group three years ago and was enrolled onto the Highways Maintenance Apprenticeship. His time was split between both the SWH Group Training Centre in Rockbeare, Exeter, and out on the job.

Jack said: “It’s an honour to be named Apprentice of the Year, to be recognised for the work that I’ve done this year is just unbelievable.

“The apprenticeship has given me so much confidence and I’ve learnt skills that I wouldn’t have learnt anywhere else.

“Winning this award makes me want to keep progressing. I can’t thank SWH Group enough.”

As a result of winning the award, Jack has been nominated for the Civil Engineering Contractors Association South West - Most Promising Apprentice of the Year Award.

SWH Group Managing Director, Richard Towl said: “We are immensely proud of Jack, as we are of all our apprentices.

“They are entering the start of their careers and it’s our responsibility to give them the necessary skills to succeed and flourish.

“Jack has grabbed this opportunity with both hands and applied himself well throughout the two years. His can-do attitude and flexibility have shone through.

“We want to give young people the opportunity to progress and acquire new skills and that is exactly what our apprenticeships do.”

Jack’s award comes in the same week as SWH Group welcomes eight new Plymouth-based apprentices to their scheme.

SWH Group has two apprenticeships available, Highways Maintenance and General Construction, more information can be found here.
