School Benefits From Gardeners’ Question Time Event

29th July, 2010

PUPILS at a Cornwall school will be enjoying a much greener environment thanks to a £100 donation from a local campaigning group.

Saltash Environmental Action (SEA) presented the money and an apple tree to pupils and staff from Brunel Primary School, Saltash.

The school recently hosted a Grow Your Own Event organised by SEA, which saw around 150 members of the public turn up to find out how to grow their own fruit and vegetables.

The money was raised from the sale of homemade food at the event.

Godfrey Allen, of SEA, said: “The money can be used by the school for any environment project of their choice. We’d like to say a big thank you to Mary Hill, one of the school’s teachers, for organising the event for us.

“During the presentation, the pupils also sang a song about planting seeds and answered questions on why trees and apples are good for us. The tree we presented was an eating variety called Lord Lambourne.”
