Fresh Ideas For Easter Eating
28th July, 2010
The Don't let Devon go to waste and Love Food Hate Waste campaigns have again teamed up with local celebrity chef Paul Da-Costa Greaves to produce some exciting Easter recipes.
The Exeter chef who owns the Galley restaurant in Topsham, features in a series of videos available on youtube in which he demonstrates mouthwatering recipes designed to help everyone use up their leftovers through the holidays.
From fresh lemonade and marinated oranges to slow roasted lamb, traditional simnel cake and even an intriguing hot cross bun trifle, Paul shows how easy it is to create fresh and fun food ideas while reducing food waste and save money.
Liz Poulter, said: "Roughly 80 million Easter eggs will be sold in the UK this year which creates around 3,000 tonnes of packaging. We can all make a difference by choosing eggs with less packaging and ensuring we recycle.
"Many of the large companies like Mars and Thorntons have made greater efforts to reduce plastic packaging and use recycled card. Everything helps.
"Easter is also a time when many people undertake gardening or DIY projects around the house. Large packaging, aerosols, rubble and garden waste can be taken to your local recycling centre."
