Board's New Website Launched
12th August, 2010
The Plymouth Employment and Skills Board (ESB) is celebrating its third year of operation with the launch of a new website.
Plymouthesb.co.uk has been launched to provide information, up to date research and analysis of the skills and employment trends in the city.
Dr Graham Stirling, Chair of Plymouth Employment and Skills Board said: “Part of the remit of Plymouth ESB is to provide current information and statistics on employers skills needs and employment. We wanted to make the results of our surveys available to anyone who can use the information.
“We intend the site to become a source for journalists, academics and students along with anyone else who has an interest.”
“The Board also has a sister site, workinplymouth.co.uk, which is a resource for businesses and individuals affected by the recession.”
Plymouth ESB, which was established in the Spring of 2008, works closely with employers, training providers and the public sector to ensure that training and skills development in the city match employers needs.
In addition, it has also worked with the voluntary sector and was instrumental in putting together the Future Jobs Fund bid in partnership with the Wolseley Trust. The scheme will have provided 361 jobs for 19 – 24 year olds across the city by September 2011.
Dr Stirling continued: “As we all know, the economic climate has been very difficult for everyone. The Board has a good reputation across the city for working collaboratively with partners and is getting results.
“We have a city in a fantastic location which is developing a reputation for advanced engineering, medical excellence and marine expertise. We want Plymouth to become known as a world class destination for business with a skilled workforce to match.”
