"One of the major plusses was that being professional, we could leave you to get on with it in the knowledge that it would be done to time, budget and best ability, no worrying, safe hands, etc, we'd certainly use you again!"

Low Carbon Enterprise Welcome In Plymouth

30th November, 2010

As part of Plymouth Enterprise Week, the city will be host to a one-day conference on the low carbon economy sponsored by the South West Peninsula Employment and Skills Boards and the Training Strategy Board.

'Innovation in a Low Carbon Age: Enterprise and Business Opportunites' will be held tomorrow (Wednesday 17 November) at the University of Plymouth's Sherwell Centre.

Businesses and organisations across the South West will discuss the many opportunities for enterprise and business that the low carbon economy will bring.

Dr Graham Stirling, CBE, Chair of Plymouth Employment and Skills Board said: "We want businesses in the region to be amongst the first to capitalise on the openings the low carbon economy will bring."

"With the South West home to many flourishing renewable energy developments and projects, it is natural progression for us to become a hub of green business development."

The focus of the conference will be on technological innovation, reducing carbon footprint and creating new opportunities. The programme will include workshops, networking and plenary sessions and specialist keynote speakers from the Training Strategy Board, Regen SW and Geneco.

Dr Stirling continued: "The coalition government wants to support the emerging low carbon economy through its 'Green Deal', our businesses need to keep themselves informed on how to create and develop these opportunities."

Speakers include Richard Miller, Head of Sustainability for the Training Strategy Board, Regen SW Chief Executive, Merlin Hyman, Ben Powis from SW RDA and Mohammed Saddiq from Geneco.
